Building off an existing structure, the new construction doubles the space of the existing health center. The design concept mirrors and improves upon the existing circulation and takes advantage of the sloping site to give the lower level a southern exposure. The entry roof embraces one under its downward sloping wood ceiling. Through the glass enclosed air-lock the main entrance hall's upward sloping ceiling culminates at the skylit roof monitor. On the lower level the framing of the reception and waiting areas is accented by a section of glass floor directly under the roof monitor above, introducing daylight while making an obscured visual connection between the two levels.
