Community Center
Principal: Michael Wisniewski
Representatives of the local Tibetan community approached us to assist them in designing a community center. They did not have a site but they hoped we could design enough to be used for fund raising. They wanted it to reference traditional forms.
Our design assumes a traditional street with possible parking on side or rear. The main meeting room faces the street with a service bar and entry behind. The building is symetrical with classical proportions and Tibetan motifs but sided with cedar shingles to create a more skinlike form rather than masonry mass. The rear service bar is built with fibercement panels.
