36 affordable dwellings in 17 duplex and triplex structures. $6.3M
Principal: Michael Wisniewski
Create 36 affordable dwellings - 8 for sale, 28 rental - on a steep site with limited development area due to wetlands and a wildlife corridor. Although the site feels rural it is within the village core so a compact, village neighborhood design was desired.
A traditional street was developed and defined with parallel parking, trees, sidewalks, front porches and dwelling; parking is accommodated in private drives or small lots. The street can connect with an adjacent lot in future to extend the street grid. Nine different designs based on four basic floor plans add variety to the neighborhood. The compact design and steep slopes leave little opportunity for private yards so we oversized the front porches to act as an outdoor room.
