Phil Colteryahn
Born in Michigan & shortly after turning 10 years old, my folks settled down in Springfield, Vermont, and there I spent the rest of my quasi-adventurous childhood. After graduating with high honors from Vermont Technical College with an Associate's Degree in Architectural and Building Engineering Technology I worked a year at a local engineering firm to save money, and then it was off to Roger Williams University. During my rigorous studies there I spent a semester abroad in the London Theatre Program where the scales almost tipped to change my major, but then my practical senses took over. I graduated from Roger Williams University with a Bachelor's in Architecture and a Minor in Theatre, and headed for Burlington. My love of theatre drew me to become involved with Lyric Theatre Company where my face was often seen onstage in the mid to late 90's. I've also been involved behind the scenes in a number of shows, including set design for Annie (1998) and The Three Musketeers (2001). It was at Lyric Theatre where I met my wife, and hence with the sound of little feet, and more little feet running upon our floor, and now diapers to clean & change, there's been less time for theatre and more time for fatherhood (though I did do the set design for Stowe Theatre Guild's Little Shop of Horrors in 2007).
I've had the privilege of working for Bob and Michael since 1999 and am still currently in the process of becoming a licensed architect. What I enjoy most about architecture is working with clients, and designing solutions that work specifically for them, and yet have order and aesthetic appeal, and hopefully some unique character that they can call their own.
